Where AI helps us, where it does not belong, and the rules we keep around children’s information. Read by Mirko before anything reaches you.
We are a space education company, and we are honest about where technology helps us and where it does not belong.
In our own office. We use AI tools to help with everyday work: drafting emails and web copy, preparing lesson material, organising our books and keeping our paperwork in order. Everything written with AI help is read and approved by Mirko, our founder, before it reaches you. Nothing goes out unchecked.
Never with your child’s information. Children’s names, photographs, medical details and anything to do with their welfare or safeguarding are kept out of our AI tools entirely. Enrolment and register information stays in our booking system. Any safeguarding concern goes straight to a person, the same day.
Never for decisions about people. AI does not decide who works with our children. Recruitment, references and DBS checks are human judgements made under our safe recruitment policy. AI does not make decisions about an individual child, and it is never part of a safeguarding response.
In our Space Clubs. Space Club sessions are delivered by a real tutor in the room, with hands-on materials. There is no AI in a Space Club session.
Nova, our learning companion. We are building Nova, an AI learning companion that guides children aged 5 to 11 through STEM missions. Nova is in early testing and is not yet available to families or schools. Before it is, we will complete a full data protection impact assessment, assess it against the Department for Education’s generative AI product safety standards and the Information Commissioner’s Children’s code, and publish a plain explanation for parents. Nova will not advertise to children, will not use children’s conversations to train AI models, and will never make a safeguarding judgement on its own: anything concerning goes to a named adult.
Questions. Email [email protected] or call 07873 621402. If you are a school and you need our AI policy, data protection impact assessment or processor agreement for your own records, ask and we will send them.
