Louno Space runs after-school clubs, school workshops, holiday camps and birthday parties for primary-age children across the UK. Every session is designed by a practising spacecraft engineer, and every week children make something or decide something with their own hands.

Why we exist

Louno Space Education exists so that no child needs luck to discover what they can become. Children are growing up in a world that changes faster than school can keep up with. Somewhere between the ages of 7 and 11, most children lose interest in science and technology, right when the UK needs millions more people with those skills. We close that gap by giving every child the pace, the interest, and the access they need to discover what they could become.

Why we started with space

Built from inside the
space industry

Louno Space was founded by Mirko Viviano, a space engineer who helped put hardware on the Moon and built technology to clear space debris from orbit. Two things sparked the idea: watching the northern lights in Kiruna, in the north of Sweden, and the European Space Agency selecting its newest class of astronauts.

Louno Space has since reached more than 5,000 children, parents and teachers, running clubs, workshops, assemblies and parties that bring that same sense of wonder into schools and communities across the UK.

Hands on, every week

Every child builds something or decides something, every single week, with the kit in their own hands.

The science is real

Mass budgets, power budgets, space debris. The same problems real mission teams wrestle with, shrunk to fit a classroom.

Failure is the plan

First attempts are supposed to crash. The rebuild is where the engineering happens, and the kids know it.
