World Space Week 2026 · 4–10 October

Build Your Rocket,
then launch it.

The whole world celebrates space every October, and this year's theme is the Rocket Revolution. So we are bringing two one-hour workshops to Portsmouth libraries with Portsmouth City Council. Your child designs a rocket, builds it, launches it, and takes it home.

How the hour works

Real engineering, not a craft table

The same five-phase method we use in our school clubs, packed into sixty minutes and pitched at the child in front of us.

1

Design

Fins, nose cone, weight. We show the real trade-offs engineers make, then every child draws their own rocket.

2

Build

They build the thing they drew. Every material is ours, so there is nothing to bring and nothing to buy.

3

Launch

Every rocket flies. Some go straight up, some do not, and working out why is the best part of the hour.

4

Take it home

The rocket goes home with them, along with the reason it flew. That is the bit they retell at school on Monday.
